Things To Do in Stratford (Shakespeare Country) and the Cotswolds 

There are many things you can see and do in this beautiful part of the world. We have compiled this list of nearby attractions. Please note that we are not responsible for the content of external websites. Aidan House is a great base for Ramblers/cycling with the Greenway and the Cotswold Way local.  Stratford Racecourse takes in some of these walks, also within a short distance.  There are lots of walks from the door and many more within a short distance.
Towns and villages
- Historic market town, birthplace of William Shakespeare set on the banks of the River Avon. Home to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the Shakespearean houses.
Broadway
- The 'Show village of England'
- Reputedly has the most beautiful High Street in England. With easy road access, it is ideal for a full vacation or just a short break. The central, location in the North Cotswolds makes an ideal base for your accommodation for a touring holiday.
- Cotswolds market town with many antique shops and much more. The town has many claims to fame, the last battle of the Civil War was fought in Stow-on-the-Wold.  There are two fairs held in Stow to this day in May and October, both featuring high on the Romany calendars.

Chastleton House (National Trust)
- Jacobean house, occupied by the same family for over 400 years
Chedworth Roman Villa (National Trust)
- remains of one of the largest Romano-British villas in the country
Kiftsgate Court Gardens
- Interconnecting gardens, the work of three generations of women gardeners
- Home of the Duke of Marlborough and birthplace of Sir Winston Churchil. Magnificent Palace with beautiful grounds offering lakes and walks amongst mature English; oaks, beeches and monument to the battle of Blenheim. 
Stoneleigh Abbey
- Abbey dating from 1154, with many famous connections
Castles
- The finest mediaeval castle in England, dating from 914 AD
Kenilworth Castle
- One of the largest castle ruins in England, dating from about 1116
- Beautiful castle with 1,000 years of royal connections
Goodrich Castle
- Majestic fortress at Symonds Yat, dating from the 11th century
Broughton Castle
- More of a house than a castle, the home of Lord and Lady Saye and Sele dates from 1300 and has appeared in many TV shows and films
Culture and heritage
- With three theatres in Stratford-upon-Avon, there is something for all tastes
Fleece Inn  (National Trust)
- Mediaeval building, still in use as a village inn
The Pudding Club
- Now the spiritual home of the Great British Pudding, featured in numerous TV shows
